MBX Logs Record Growth for Custom OEM Hardware Computing Services
February 22, 2018

LIBERTYVILLE, IL (February 22, 2018) MBX Systems today announced a major expansion of its custom computing hardware business that included a 275% year-over-year increase in new accounts, a substantial increase in multimillion-dollar engagements, and related revenue growth in 2017. The company provides extensive engineering, manufacturing and support services to software developers, OEMs and service providers that deliver their applications pre-integrated on purpose-built hardware for turnkey deployment.
The surge in new business was fueled in part by high variability and full-rack build capabilities that support customer-specific configuration and complex 42U rack assemblies. Those abilities are backed by MBX’s proprietary ForgeTM production software, which enables fast, accurate customization of imaging, testing and configuration for each end user, and full rack integration services, which supports rack builds for clustered software applications such as big data, simulation/training and video graphics as well as for rack cabinets used in colocation facilities.
Other factors driving the company’s growth include:
- Entry into new markets beyond its core server appliance manufacturing services
- Plant infrastructure enhancements to accommodate new customer needs
- Expansion of Tier 1 chassis options with the addition of Dell, Lanner and Lenovo base platforms to MBX’s existing suppliers
- Global manufacturing, certification and logistics services
Vertical markets currently served by MBX range from security, storage, hyperconvergence and video production to media server, digital display, and simulation/training. Many of those customers offer applications that cannot be deployed in a cloud environment, requiring on-premise hardware for reasons ranging from data sensitivity to high-performance computing needs and petabyte-scale databases.
“Virtually all new business we booked last year involved either unseating an incumbent provider or winning RFPs against billion-dollar competitors. That achievement is directly related to our advanced processes, high-touch customer service and ability to successfully execute increasingly complex, high-variability projects,” said MBX President Jill Bellak. “We continue to expand our engineering, manufacturing, and global fulfillment and support services to meet customers’ hardware needs, and we expect 2018 to be another banner year based on both the new and repeat business already in the pipeline.”
